The fleet

Three sizes. One standard of care.

Charter is priced per vehicle, so picking the right size is the single biggest thing you can do about the price. Here is how the three tiers differ in practice.

01 Mini buses available for charter in Sydney

Mini buses

12 – 24 seats

Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, Toyota Coasters and Mitsubishi Rosas. The right call when the group is small enough that a full coach would be dead weight — and when the pickup is a narrow driveway, a hotel porte-cochère or a Bondi side street a 57-seater can't enter.

  • Air conditioning throughout
  • Rear or trailer luggage on most vehicles
  • Fits standard height-limited car parks on select vehicles
  • 13+ seats requires an LR-licensed driver — ours hold it
02 Midi coaches available for charter in Sydney

Midi coaches

25 – 35 seats

Our most-booked size. School excursions, sporting teams, conference shuttles and mid-size weddings. Big enough to move a whole group in one vehicle, small enough to turn around in a school driveway or a cellar-door car park.

  • Seatbelt-equipped vehicles available on request
  • Reclining seats and overhead storage
  • Underfloor luggage on most vehicles
  • PA system for guides and coordinators
03 Full-size coaches available for charter in Sydney

Full-size coaches

36 – 57 seats

Conferences, large weddings, multi-day tours and interstate runs. Lowest cost per seat of anything we operate — if you can fill it, it is almost always the cheapest way to move the group.

  • Onboard restroom on selected vehicles
  • PA and entertainment system
  • Large underfloor luggage capacity
  • Suited to Blue Mountains, Hunter and Canberra day runs

Why Bus Hire In Sydney

Charter is all we do.

We are not a tour company that also hires buses, and we are not a booking site that sells your enquiry on. We run the vehicles, we roster the drivers, and we quote the job in front of us.

Twelve kinds of charter, one operator

Weddings, conferences, school excursions, sporting fixtures, airport and cruise transfers, event shuttles, party charters, wine and day tours. The same fleet and the same dispatch desk covers all of it, so a multi-part job stays with one contact instead of three suppliers.

See every charter type

Direct operator, not a booking broker

You speak to the people who allocate the vehicle and roster the driver. No quote gets passed down a chain to whoever will do it cheapest, which is where most charter horror stories actually start.

The right size, not the biggest one

Charter is priced per vehicle, so a coach you only half fill is money you did not need to spend. Tell us the real headcount and the real luggage, and we will quote the smallest vehicle that genuinely does the job — even when that is a smaller invoice for us.

How to choose a vehicle

Written, itemised quotes

Per vehicle, with tolls and inclusions stated and exclusions listed in full. Parking, airport access charges and out-of-hours loading appear on the quote rather than on the invoice afterwards.

How our pricing works

Backed by a national network

Part of the Waggie Group, family-owned coach operators since 1974. When a group needs a coach in Brisbane, Cairns, Byron Bay or Hervey Bay, we arrange it inside the family rather than handing you to a stranger.

Answered around the clock

The 4am airport run, the carnival that went to extra time, the reception that ran long. Charter does not keep office hours, so neither does the phone.

Frequently asked

Common questions about bus hire in Sydney.

How much does bus hire cost in Sydney?

Charter is priced per vehicle, not per person, so the cost per head falls as the group grows. Across the Sydney market, mini buses typically run about $90–$150 an hour, midi coaches $110–$200 and full-size coaches $150–$250 (market ranges, August 2026). Most operators, including us, apply a minimum hire of three to four hours. Airport and point-to-point transfers are usually quoted as a fixed price rather than hourly. We quote every job individually against your actual itinerary.

What kinds of charter do you actually do?

Twelve families of it: full-size coach charter and mini bus hire by vehicle; weddings and party charters; corporate and conference shuttles, school excursions, sporting teams and event shuttles; Sydney Airport and cruise terminal transfers; and private wine and day tours. Office relocations, site crew transport, community outings and wholesale supply to tour operators are all normal work too — if it is a group and it needs moving, ask.

How far ahead should I book?

For December weddings, school excursion season, major concerts and race days, as early as you can — the Sydney fleet genuinely runs out. For everyday charters, 24 to 48 hours is usually enough. If you are not sure, call; we will tell you straight away whether the date is tight.

Do your buses have seatbelts?

Some do and some do not, which is why it is worth asking rather than assuming. Under the NSW Road Rules a bus is treated differently from a car, but where seatbelts are fitted they must be worn. If your school, workplace or highway route requires a fully seatbelted vehicle, say so when you enquire and we will allocate one.

Can we bring food and drinks on board?

Non-alcoholic food and drink, yes, on every vehicle. Alcohol is permitted on private adult charters — not school or junior sport work — on the understanding that consumption stays sensible and the vehicle comes back clean. A cleaning or security deposit may apply on party and event charters.

What happens if our plans change?

Talk to us as early as you can. Amendment and cancellation terms are set out in your booking confirmation and on our terms page. Moving a booking is nearly always easier than cancelling one, and we would rather reschedule you than lose you.

Do you charge per person or per bus?

Per vehicle. A 45-seat coach costs the same whether 30 or 45 people are on it, so matching the vehicle to the group is the single biggest lever on price. Tell us your real passenger number and we will tell you the cheapest way to move them.

Can you supply more than one bus?

Yes — for groups above 57 we run multiple vehicles in convoy, coordinated so everyone arrives together rather than in waves. Large conference and festival shuttles are quoted as a schedule, not a single trip.

Looking for a guided tour?

We do charter. Our sister company does touring.

What we sell is the vehicle and the driver. You set the route, the stops and the timings, and we get your group there — anywhere in Sydney and the surrounding regions.

If what you actually want is a packaged, guided tour with the itinerary, commentary and bookings already arranged, that is a different product and our sister company runs it properly. Cooee Tours is part of the same family business and has been operating since 1974.
